9–11 January. Eric Petzoldt presented at the BFE-RMA Research Students Conference at the Open University, Milton Keynes.
9-10 February. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz and Steve Wilford presented during Yallah: Judeo-Arabic Music Conference at SOAS University of London. Vanessa's paper is entitled 'Sonic Resistance during Nazism: the role of Judeo-Arabic songs in the Maghreb' and Stephen's presentation and exhibit is entitled 'Seeing and Hearing Judeo-Arabic Music in Colonial Algeria' . This conference is co-convened by Vanessa Paloma Elbaz together with Ilana Webster-Kogen from SOAS.
11 February. André Azoulay, counsellor to H.M.Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, delivered a lecture at the St John's Divinity School, University of Cambridge entitled "Music instead of politics: the remaining answer to the current challenges of coexistence?"
12 February. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth, Vanessa Paloma Elbaz and Eric Petzoldt presented on their research at the Woolf Institute Music Research Afternoon, with the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
13 February. Edwin Seroussi delivered a guest lecture at the Faculty of Music, University of Cambridge entitled 'Liturgy: An Overlooked Corner of the Moroccan Jewish Musical Map'.
21–22 February. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth presented at the ICTM Ireland annual conference at University College Cork, Ireland. The theme is 'Music, Politics, Power'.
11 March. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth presented at the Royal Anthropological Institute Research Seminar.
12 May. Steve Wilford presented a paper for the Webinar series of the Humanities Society at Wolfson College, Cambridge. His paper was entitled "Whose Bled? Music, Sound and Public Spaces in (Post)Colonial Algeria".
20 May. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presented a public lecture entitled 'Sonic Resistence During Nazism: The Role of Judeo-Arabic Songs in the Maghreb" as part of the Jewish Music Institute's Yallah series.
25 May. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presented a public lecture entitled 'Chanson Séfarade Judéo-Espagnole au Maroc'' for the Alliance Israélite Universelle's online programming.
27 May. Steve Wilford presented a public lecture entitled 'Hearing and Seeing Judeo-Arabic Music in Colonial Algeria" as part of the Jewish Music Institute's Yallah series.
11 June. Steve Wilford and Vanessa Paloma Elbaz spoke at the Cambridge World History Workshop, presenting a panel entitled "Sounding Out the Past across the Mediterranean: Musical Representations of Belong and Memory". Vanessa's paper was entitled "Singing through the Porphyryan Tree: Arab Andalusian, Sephardi and Flamenco Repertoire" and Steve's was "Music and Sound at the French Expositions Coloniales".
24 June. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presented a public lecture entitled 'Sephardi Judéo-Espagnoles: Threads Across the Strait' for the American Sephardi Federation's Institute of Jewish Learning's Music of North Africa online Series.
1 July. Vanessa Paloma Elbaz presented a public lecture together with Dr. Samuel Tordjman Thomas entitled 'Modern and Contemporary Judeo-Arabic Song and Performance' for the American Sephardi Federation's Institute of Jewish Learning's Music of North Africa online Series.
20 August. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth presented a public lecture entitled 'Music, Protest and the Politics of Cultural Memory at the Día de la toma' at the University of Melbourne Louise Hanson-Dyer Colloquium Series (online).
9 September. Matthew Machin-Autenrieth, Vanessa Paloma Elbaz, Samuel Llano and Steve Wilford will deliver a pre-recorded panel entitled 'Sounding Trans-Gibraltar: the Borderland Politics of Music across the Western Mediterranean', at the Royal Musical Association Annual conference (Goldsmiths, University of London).
